Jaguar XK Convertible 4.2 2007 – The Jaguar XK is a two-door 2+2 grand tourer manufactured and marketed by British automobile manufacturer Jaguar Cars from 1996–2014 in hatchback coupé and convertible body styles, across two generations. The XK was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1996 and was discontinued in July 2014.

The second generation of the XK debuted in 2005. The Jaguar XK-Series has been fully redesigned for 2007. Highlights for the new model include all-aluminium construction, more interior room, new styling and more luxurious features. The main advantages to aluminium construction are weight reduction and body stiffness.

Highlights of the standard XK’s equipment list include 18-inch wheels, an adaptive suspension system, bi-xenon HID headlights, rear parking sensors, keyless start, leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats with memory settings for the driver, etc. A 217kW, 4.2-litre V8 engine and Jaguar Sequential Shift steering-wheel-mounted gear change controls ensure rapid performance of 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

The luxurious triple-lined, fabric roof – which can be powered up or down in less than 18 seconds – stows fully out of sight beneath an aluminium tonneau cover when retracted.

A roll-over protection system comprising two ‘hidden’ aluminium hoops that deploy in the event of an incident is standard on all XK Convertibles.

Jaguar Design Director, Ian Callum has said the following: “The all-new XK was designed from the outset to be a beautiful convertible. It is a statement of confident Jaguar design, elegant as well as powerful and with the performance and driving dynamics to match its looks”.

The current convertible is as special as any other XK model from this era. It is appropriate to once again point out that it has a full aluminium body which is a major factor of the car’s lightweight design. The electric soft top can be handled with ease.

This XK is a Black on Beige piece having a light coloured interior in a black coloured body. Seats are covered in beige leather, an abundant use of wooden trim can be found on dashboard and upholstery. The steering wheel also is a wooden one. The Alpine sound system goes well with the car and makes the quality music even more enjoyable. The powerful 4.2 litre V8 engine with a 6-gear automatic transmission pulls strong, provides a high level of comfort and despite its sharpness makes the convertible drive very quietly.
